Chixin Festival
Several ethnic groups in southern China celebrate the Chixin Festival, a traditional agrarian event held to mark the harvest and pray for abundant crops in the coming year.
Typically observed between the sixth and ninth months on the Chinese lunar calendar, when crops are ripe or about to be harvested, the festival features vibrant activities rooted in local traditions. These include the Youfang courtship rituals at Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, sacrificial ceremonies of the Gelao people, and the spirited buffalo-fighting contests of the Dong ethnic group.
