Li Na is a beautiful girl who is only 19 years old. But she has a malignant tumor which is now terminal. She has been through terrible suffering - 7 years ago her leg was amputated at the thigh because of osteosarcoma, and two years ago her mother died of illness. She has lost her hair as a result of chemotherapy.

Some of Li Na's classmates came to visit her in Gaoling County, Shaanxi Province. Li Na explained to them that she had cut her hair just three days ago,and that she had started to lose her hair since undergoing chemotherapy. During the conversation she touched her hair, and clumps fell out.

Li Na's grandmother told a journalist that when Li was 11, she came home from school one day saying that she had a pain in her leg. It turned out to be osteosarcoma. Though the doctors suggested amputation, Li's family opted for more conservative treatment. "We wanted to keep her leg," Li's grandmother explained. The family borrowed 100,000 RMB for the surgery. However, within six months Li Na's leg was giving her problems again, and doctors said that she would not survive without a thigh amputation.
