KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 24 – The two-day “2014 Malaysia-China Economic and Trade Forum, Goods and Business Exhibition” opened in Port Klang free trade zone in Malaysia on Saturday.

Representatives of 64 Chinese enterprises and representatives of more than ten Malaysian enterprises attended the event.

The forum is hosted by Malaysia China International Business Center and organized by Port Klang International Exhibition Center.

The relationship between the two countries has improved in these years, and the bilateral trade has reached a new high. China is now the biggest trade partner of Malaysia, and Malaysia is in the same position for China in ASEAN, said Zheng Jinbao, President of Port Klang free trade zone.

He said the free trade zone has already prepared to welcome companies from around the world, and hoped more Chinese companies will invest here with the biggest support of local policy.

Port Klang free trade zone is an important national project with government support and attention from the International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Xia Baowen, Chairman of SM International Wholesale Center, said during the forum.

He said since the Maritime Silk Road construction was raised by the Chinese leadership, countries of ASEAN have the chance of win-win cooperation. In order to reach the expected bilateral trade volume in 2017, the free trade zone becomes new platform for China to expand market.
