Children taken hostage in India's Mumbai city
NEW DELHI, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Over 15 children aged between 11 and 15 years were taken hostage by a man at a studio in India's financial capital Mumbai on Thursday, confirmed a local police over the phone.
The hostage drama continued for several hours before the local police arrived to successfully rescue all the children and nab the culprit. The incident occurred at the R.D. Studio in Mumbai's Pawai area, said the police.
Around 100 children had gone to the studio for an audition. Suddenly, a worker of the studio, identified as Rohit Arya, held around 15-20 children hostage. The children's parents were present outside the studio. On learning about the hostage incident, the parents called the police.
Soon, police arrived and overpowered the culprit, rescuing the children. As per the latest reports, the local police were interrogating the culprit to know the reason behind his criminal act.
