Macao SAR's tourist price index falls in Q3
MACAO, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Macao's Tourist Price Index (TPI) dropped by 0.82 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, data from the Special Administrative Region (SAR)'s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed on Thursday.
The decline was mainly attributed to lower hotel room rates, partly offset by higher jewelry prices and increased spending on entertainment and leisure activities.
The DSEC noted that the Accommodation index fell by 11.34 percent year-on-year, while Miscellaneous Goods and Entertainment & Cultural Activities rose by 8.02 percent and 7.42 percent, respectively.
Compared with the previous quarter, TPI increased by 2.12 percent as hotel rates and airfares climbed during the summer holidays, according to the service.
The TPI measures price changes in goods and services purchased by visitors to Macao.
