Influenced by the monsoon climate at the height of summer, the Honghe River in Honghe county, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Yunnan Province, has entered its high-water season. The river's waters take on a distinctive crimson hue due to soil erosion from the upstream red-soil plateau, resembling a flowing red ribbon winding through lush mountains on both banks.

The Honghe River is a transboundary waterway flowing from China's Yunnan into neighboring Vietnam, and is the only major international river originating within Yunnan. The breathtaking scene of crimson waters against verdant mountains is like nature's living palette.
