China opposes all moves harming civilians: FM spokesperson
BEIJING, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- China opposes all moves that harm civilians and condemns violent moves targeting correspondents, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday.
Lin made the remarks in response to a media query regarding the media report that Israel killed five Al Jazeera correspondents in an air strike early this morning Beijing time, adding the number of correspondents being killed to 237 since Israel launched the large-scale military operation.
"We mourn for the correspondents who tragically lost their lives in the conflict," said the spokesperson.
China urges Israel to stop its military operation in Gaza at once, fully resume access to humanitarian supplies, avoid humanitarian crisis of a greater scale, and cool down the situation as soon as possible, Lin said.
