China allocates emergency flood relief supplies to Inner Mongolia
BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- The office of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, together with the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, on Monday dispatched over 13,000 emergency supply items to north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to support flood control and rescue operations.
The supplies, allocated at the request of Inner Mongolia's flood control authorities, include rescue boats, drainage pumps, generators and lighting equipment.
The emergency materials will be used to strengthen local flood prevention and disaster relief efforts.
Inner Mongolia has experienced continuous rainfall since July 23, with flooding affecting some areas.
China's national observatory on Monday renewed an orange alert for rainstorms, forecasting torrential rains across vast regions of the country -- including Inner Mongolia -- from 2 p.m. Monday to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
