China wins best foreign pavilion award at Dar es Salaam trade fair
DAR ES SALAAM, July 7 (Xinhua) -- China was on Monday awarded the best foreign country pavilion prize at the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), currently underway in Tanzania.
The award was presented by Tanzanian Minister of Industry and Trade Selemani Jafo, a day after the celebration of China Day at the fair.
A total of 22 foreign countries are participating in the fair, which aims to promote trade and investment by providing a platform for local and international businesses to showcase their products, services, and innovations, according to Jafo.
Jafo noted that this year's fair features 2,731 local exhibitors and 282 foreign exhibitors from 22 participating countries.
China Day showcased the vast spectrum of Chinese industry, ranging from cutting-edge technology and green energy solutions to traditional craftsmanship and globally recognized manufacturing excellence, Jafo added.
The East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center Ltd (EACLC), a key Chinese logistics and trade hub in the region, was also honored after being named the main sponsor of this year's event.
EACLC Director General Cathy Wang accepted a certificate of appreciation from Hussein Ali Mwinyi, president of Tanzania's Zanzibar, who officially opened the fair. The event runs from June 28 to July 13.
"This has significantly contributed to job creation, product competitiveness, and government revenue through taxation," she said.
