Construction postponed to protect oriental white storks in China's Anhui
An aerial drone photo taken on May 21, 2025 shows oriental white storks taking care of the nestlings on top of a transmission tower in Huoqiu County, east China's Anhui Province. In early May this year, workers discovered a nest of oriental white stork, a migratory bird under first-class state protection, on the newly-built transmission tower. The State Grid Anhui Electric Power Co., Ltd. has installed high-definition cameras near the nest, assigned designated staff to track and protect the oriental white storks, and postponed the construction progress according to the breeding timeline of the storks.
