Foreign journalists hailed China's openness and connectivity as they visited the exhibition center of the Chengdu International Railway Port in southwest China's Sichuan province as part of the second media workshop for Belt and Road News Network (BRNN).
The first freight train connecting Chengdu, capital of Sichuan, with Europe, departed from the Chengdu International Railway Port on April 26, 2013.
From 2013 to 2018, the international trains operating in Chengdu increased from 31 to 2,619, among which 1,591 were headed to Europe.
With the Chengdu International Railway Port as a pivot, the city has formed seven international railway passages and five international rail-sea routes, connecting 23 overseas cities and 14 cities back home.
Chengdu, an inland city, has opened up widely and become internationalized, demonstrating China's achievements of reform and opening up for more than 40 years, said Mohamed Hamrouni, Director General of Journal Array Alaam, Tunisia, adding that the Chinese market has revitalized the global economy.
As the city's major move to bring convenience for foreign companies, the Business and Innovation Center for China-Europe Cooperation, located in the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, has generated all kinds of new opportunities for Sichuan to bring it in the direction of high-quality development that also possesses a character of high-level openness.
With 10 service windows, the center allows foreign companies to manage more than 180 examination and approval items all in one location. It has attracted more than 40 renowned institutions and enterprises by now.
China has opened up wider and unleashed great potential for development, which has great significance for global economic development, noted Salah AI Yaf Ei, News Editor of Oman News Agency, Oman.
