BEIJING, Sept. 23 -- The Solomon Islands government and people made the right choice in establishing diplomatic relations with China, a Chinese government spokesperson said Monday when responding to a press request.
Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said adhering to the one-China principle is a norm of international relations and a universal consensus of the international community.
A total of 179 countries have conformed to the tide of the times in establishing formal diplomatic ties with China, Ma said, adding that this historical trend will continue.
