Sydney, April 24 (People’s Daily Online / Jin Xie) On April 24, the final award winner of the “When Koala Meets Panda” 2018 China-Australia Short Video Contest, Max Silk, will start a week-long trip to Hainan province, China to experience a different Chinese culture.

Max, from Australia, is currently studying International Studies at Macquarie University in Sydney and has been studying Chinese for more than 5 years. Before participating in the short video competition, he has traveled to many cities in China, experiencing various authentic Chinese culture and history.

In 2018, with 1.09 million views in just around 24 hours, Max’s video “Travel around China” became the final winner. “I want to show the world how amazing a destination China is and encourage more young Australians to experience what China has to offer,” he said.

The China trip will begin in Haikou, the capital city of Hainan province. During one week time, Max will travel around the island to experience many local cultures, visiting Temple of Five Lords, Dongjiao Coconut Grove, the World’s End, the Australian Soldier Monument and so on.

“When Koala Meets Panda” China-Australia Short Video Contest is hosted by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane and organized by People’s Daily Online Australia. The contest started in 2017 and is held once a year. Its aim is to promote exchanges, understanding, and friendship between Chinese and Australian young people.
