The international department of Xi'an High-tech Zone International School was formally authorized by IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization) in November 2015 to become the first member school of IB in northwest China.

Earlier, China had 82 schools which offer IB programs. Those schools are in big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

The international department of Xi'an High-tech Zone International School started IB education system in 2006, offering ECE, PYP, MYP, DP and AP curriculum respectively in kindergarten, primary school, junior and high school education system. Main courses are taught in English. Students can also learn Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French, Japanese as a second language. Other courses such as International golf, Chinese calligraphy, instrumental music are also provided in school.

The international department of Xi'an High-tech Zone International School has also been authorized the US National Examination Center to become the first center of US SAT college entrance exam in northwest China.
